VOLUNTEERS MAKE SUCH A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OUR RESIDENTS
Each touch provides an opportunity for the Mercy House “family” to show love and reflect the heart of our Heavenly Father. To volunteer with Mercy House is to help save a life.
Mercy House volunteers and staff must publicly profess faith in Christ, be in active fellowship with a body of believers proclaiming Biblically sound Christian doctrine, and be in submission to their pastoral authority. Mercy House volunteers and staff must embrace the strong conviction of pro-life values, including the life of the unborn. All volunteers and staff must agree to a background check and sign the confidentiality agreement for Mercy House.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES
We have a number of powerful ways to impact the lives of women here at Mercy House.
Spiritual Mentor – Walk alongside a resident to offer encouragement, prayer support, Bible-study, and
spiritual guidance s she navigates pregnancy and life changes.
Respite Relief – Provide temporary support of the maternity home by overseeing household and offering care or supervision during planned vacations and holidays.
Postpartum Infant Support – Assist the mother and baby as needed. Duties will include assistance with
laundry care, meal preparation, and supervision of the infant while the mother completes household
chores and personal hygiene. Additional duties may be required according to the mother’s and baby’s
needs.
General Household Assistance – Help with light home maintenance as needed. Duties may include
sweeping, mopping, and organizing cabinets and garage, and other light household chores.
Tutor – Provide academic support, life skills tutoring, or assistance with education and job readiness for
residents as needed.
Professional Services Volunteer – Offer your professional expertise – midwifery, doula, legal aid,
counseling, teaching, grant writing and other specialized service to support residents.
Skilled Labor Services – Plumbing, painting, carpentry, handyman services, and etc
Yard Cleanup/Maintenance Crew – Work together to maintain outdoor spaces – cleaning up lawn (rake
leaves, weeding, and etc), removing debris, and beautifying the grounds (landscaping, gardening, etc.)
Bible Study/Prayer Group – Lead a bible study and/or prayer group with the residents
Volunteer Coordinator – Work with House Manager to organize and manage volunteers
OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE
We welcome those who have special talents or abilities who would like to serve in a particular way.
Examples of these could be weekend projects or mini-workshops on:
- Photography
- Videography
- Sewing
- Crafting
- Gardening
- Cooking and baking classes
- Cake decorating
- Bible studies
- Musical worship
- Hairdressing
- Exercise/Physical Fitness
- Art lessons
- Welcome baskets

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the process for becoming a volunteer?
Each volunteer would need to fill out an application (download form above) and include the area you would like to serve in. A Mercy House staff member will contact you to schedule a one-on-one orientation and conduct a background check. Then, we’ll set up a Meet and Greet prior to the first volunteer assignment.
Do I have to attend a Volunteer Orientation?
Yes, each Volunteer needs to attend an orientation conducted one-on-one.
If I’m interested to volunteer with a group, do we all have to attend an orientation?
The group leader would need to attend an orientation but all in the group would need to sign a non-disclosure and undergo a background check.
Do I need a background check to be conducted for every opportunity?
No, you will just need to have a background check conducted for the first opportunity.
Can I volunteer for more than one opportunity?
Yes, you can volunteer for multiple opportunities.
Can I volunteer for my high school community service hours?
Yes, with parental consent via a signed waiver.
Can my minor volunteer by themselves?
Yes, minors 15 years old and older can volunteer with parental consent via a signed waiver.
How old to do you need to be to volunteer?
Volunteers can be 15 years old and older with parental consent via a signed waiver.
