“MERCY HOUSE IS ABOUT REAL HOPE AND HELP.”
– SUSAN HULET, FOUNDER
In 1996, a group of concerned volunteers gathered to discuss the formation of a ministry home where single pregnant women could be nurtured and discipled in Christ. The group was led by our founder, Susan Hulet who was assisting her husband Eric in pastoring their church. By 1997 the Lord had brought the dream together with the opening of our first residential home in Arlington, Texas.
This home, as well as the use of Shepherding Homes, families that hosted individual women in their private homes, allowed us to serve many women from around the DFW metroplex, the state of Texas and the continental US. Our first Colleyville home opened in 2012 and was a central point for bringing our dream of serving more women to a reality. In 2018, we purchased a home in Colleyville where we serve women today.
Susan Hulet served the Dallas/Fort Worth area as a Certified Professional Midwife for 19 years and also mentored many women in her pastoral ministry with her husband for 30 years.
The burden to more profoundly impact single pregnant women with their unique needs and struggles came after beginning her midwifery career and realizing the depth of need single women face alone.
Susan’s work with families including childbirth through midwifery care, lactation support, childbirth education, pastoral counseling, parenting instruction, marriage counseling, and women’s ministries perfectly combined with the burden to provide single pregnant women with real hope and help.
